James Beasley is remembered for being one of the hardest working trial lawyers in America. His friends described him as “legendary,” and he known for winning multi-million dollar verdicts on a regular basis. Beasley became nationally known for his success as a trial lawyer in medical malpractice, products liability, defamation, personal injury, and aviation cases. He tried over 400 cases during his career and won more than 100 jury verdicts in excess of $1 million. In his most high-profile case, he won a $105 million verdict against Osama bin Laden for the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. In addition to his trial work, Jim was regarded as a remarkably generous man who quietly helped many people over the years. In 1999, Temple Law School was renamed Temple University’s James E. Beasley School of Law after Jim made a confidential donation. This endowment funded full scholarships for 107 Beasley scholars to date and created three endowed law faculty chairs.
