Dispute Resolution Institute
The Honorable Sandra Mazer Moss earned a reputation as one of the country’s most fair and progressive legal minds in the country during her long tenure as a justice on the bench of the First Judicial District of Philadelphia. Judge Moss became a judge in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas and in 1987 was placed in charge of managing over 8,000 Asbestos Program cases. Judge Moss was a founding member and chair of the State Judges Mass Tort Litigation Committee (MTLC founded in 1991), which was the first national organization to develop common approaches to problems in mass tort litigation and for eight years was a standing committee of the Conference of Chief Justices. She also testified before the United States Senate Judiciary Committee concerning legislative and judicial solutions to the asbestos problem nationwide. She currently serves as the Distinguished Neutral/Trial Consultant at Dispute Resolution Institute and serves also as Senior Advisor for the Stephen and Sandra Sheller Center for Social Justice at Temple University.
